A little more than 8 years ago, CYT Santa Cruz was just a dream. It took generous supporters like
you to provide the necessary leadership, skills, services and financial support to make that dream
a reality. And now we have 100 families participating in any given session, giving of their time
and efforts to continue to build upon that foundation, and upholding our mission. We are
dedicated to developing character in children and adults through training in the arts, and by
producing wholesome family entertainment.
Since our first session in 2011, this reality has engaged a partnership between families,
businesses, churches, schools and our community. Since that time we produced 20 musicals,
impacting over 1500 kids. As a result of this community partnership, we have nurtured young
people with teachers and directors who inspire confidence, creativity, leadership, and selfexpression.
We have also built a community where kids feel accepted for who they are, and
encouraged by adults and peers. They have grown in self-confidence in the classrooms, stage and
in the community. We anticipate that our students will graduate from CYT as self-assured,
dynamic young men and women of character. They will leave CYT as impactful citizens ready to
lead, serve our community, and inspire others.
The relevance of our program is even more important when the budget for arts programs is often
the most vulnerable to cuts in our public schools. We are also committed to expanding our reach
into low income areas. Watsonville is the next area we would like to serve, and we are currently
strategizing the most optimum way to accomplish that. To ensure these excellent educational
opportunities continue for kids of all income levels, we are asking for your support.
We intentionally charge less and fundraise more to ensure families of all income levels are able
to join our program and share in the positive CYT experience. Program fees only cover
approximately 50% of the actual cost of training each student. This intentional income gap is
intended to be filled with generous support from people and businesses like you. This year, we
anticipate providing scholarship assistance to about 40% of our families.
As a valued part of the fundraising arm of CYT Santa Cruz, you are invited to attend a fun-filled,
community-building gala, put on by the volunteer fundraising parent committee. The money
raised at this particular annual event supports scholarships, training and leadership in the arts.
